Subject: Commercial Insurance Policy
Hi Dave
I just wanted to thank you again for researching and providing me with a Commercial Insurance Policy with SAFECO in connection with my Professional Organizing business. As you know, I didn't have a policy for the first six months I was
in the business, but reluctantly agreed to obtain one even though I never thought I would have to use it and it was probably just a waste of money. How wrong I was! I had been working with an 85 year old client for a year and a half and she was in the process of getting ready to move into a retirement center in a few months. My husband and I offered to paint a wall for her in her home to help spruce it up a bit before she put it on the market. There was smoke damage from the fireplace and we just wanted to help her out (i.e., we weren't charging her to do this particular task). We arrived at the appointed time on a Saturday morning only to find her in tears saying that she didn't want us to paint because she was having breathing problems and she apologized for not calling us. We assured her we could come back another day, put our paint supplies down on the floor, and proceeded into the family room at the back of the home so I could show my husband what needed to be done. That's when my client tripped over the paint tray when she was trying to follow us and fell to the floor. We called her son and he and I took her to the emergency room where we found out her arm was broken. Never would I have imagined that I would be needing that Commercial Insurance Policy! They agreed to pay up to $10,000 (my policy limit) for up to a year for her related medical expenses from the accident, including the caretakers that were hired 24/7 to take care of her while she recovered. It has been a true godsend for both my client and myself. Thank you, Dave, for opening my eyes to the necessity of having insurance. No matter how careful you may think you are, accidents do happen and thank heaven I was covered.
